WHO WE ARE
Cabasa tells stunningly beautiful visual stories that celebrate human connectedness and our need to find meaning in our art form and life. We are inspired by traditional stories and processes and re-imagine these to make them relevant now producing large scale, spectacular outdoor work, which keeps the community at its heart.
Based in Tameside (UK), Cabasa Carnival Arts has been delivering high-quality Carnival creations in the North-West and beyond for the past 10 years, providing a unique and innovative approach to street art and continuing to develop the art-form on a national and international stage.
With a dedicated team of artists and volunteers, Cabasa create impressive structures, large puppets, fantastic costume, and promotes the history and heritage of carnival and local communities through percussion, dance, melody, and street theatre.
As Artistic Director, Emily Wood’s vision to spread the techniques and traditional methods of costume development and fabrication has already made a huge impact on the quality and appeal of carnival artistry in the North West.
